On
the eve of her birthday in 1995, Cinnamon
Sky founds SkyWebs.com, an early provider of quality
Web site design and hosting. Long before there were any
HTML books or software, her teamfrom
the Mendocino Coast, California to Maui, Hawaiiwas
developing fine Web site solutions, enabling local businesses
to have a worldwide presence.
Many thanks to Ted, Jim G and Bob
in my early days of UNIX, and to Rennie at MCN
for getting us started in Web developmentand believing
in my business.
1996
SkyWebs
continues to grow its online community of environmentally
responsible businessesfrom Whole Life Expo to The
Industrial Hemp Information Network; from Voice Dialogue
International to Angelnet and EarthPortalsemploying
local artists & technologists in remote areas, to produce
art, content and code...
April,
1997
SkyWebs begins installing E-commerce shopping cart
solutions for clients, partnering with ShopSite,
and installing our first SSL serverStronghold.
The industry is shaping itself, as we all become
more aware of issues such as reliable 24/7 uptime and security;
scalability; and Internet-based marketing strategies.
Thanks to Rhea for her major support
during difficult business matters.
February,
1998
Cinnamon &
SkyWebs move to the San Francisco Bay Area to expand their
offerings to a larger client base; adding more UNIX and
NT servers onto a faster backbone. Thanks
to Tim H, Jim R & Timmy for all of their great work.

June,
1999
Largely
due to the personal service that Cinnamon & her team
gave their customers, SkyWebs grew 10-fold between 1997-1999.
(Many thanks to Consulting Alliance, for the business
coaching!) In June, SkyWebs' servers and clientele
were acquired by a Web farm in New York City,
CommerceKey. This company promised
to provide large-scale Web hosting, E-commerce and fulfillment
solutions. (See next column)
Cinnamon,
not
wanting to move to New York City, founded Sky-Portal
(at that time, with
Willard Van De Bogart of the PortalMarket)
to continue with her personal passion for Web site design.
